FACT:
Childhood abuse has been and continues to be a reality of our society
FACT:
Childhood abuse holds its affects long into our adult lives
FACT:
63% of female sexual abuse as children is never reported; in men that
number
is thought to be well over 85%
FACT:
If we don't do something to break these patterns of learned abusive
behavior
CHILDHOOD ABUSE WILL CONTINUE, and the numbers will grow higher
FACT:
Cognitive therapy alone is not enough.
FACT:
Project Lullaby offers a holistic approach to the issues of adult
survival from
the trauma of the childhood abuse and from THE LEARNED BEHAVIORS
CAUSING ADULT DYSFUNCTION.
Project Lullaby
was founded by Rev. Stephen DeMatteis,PhD,
himself an adult survivor of childhood abuse. The program offers
counseling and support to adult men and women who are seeking answers to
the continued dysfunctions of their lives due to the learned behaviors
and effects of childhood abuse.
Project Lullaby defines
abuse as any unwelcome, inappropriate and deliberate act upon one
individual by another. This includes, but is not limited to, emotional,
physical and spoken form.
Project Lullaby
holds as its
mission to offer an alternative safe environment for the adult mind to
communicate and heal the mind of the inner child who holds in its
knowing the trauma of its abuse.
To offer individual and group counseling both cognitive and regressive.
ultimately guiding the individual to choose a plan of personal survival
over one of self-imposed victimization. To further support that choice
with peer affirmation groups and individual supports as needed.
Project Lullaby seeks also to work with those men and women who
recognize that they too are abusive in their learned nature - offering
education and counseling to help break the patterns of abuse and
diminish the risk present in their lives.
Project Lullaby welcomes into its program all persons seeking survival
regardless of race, creed, color, age, sex, sexual orientation or
socioeconomic standing. An honest desire for survival and a respect for
the confidentiality of others is a requirement of our program.
FACT:
Project Lullaby receives NO Public Funding.
FACT: No
Program can survive without financial support
FACT: We need
your support both financial and practical
FACT: If
Project Lullaby is not allowed to continue -
MORE CHILDREN WILL BE ABUSED,
than
if we are able to break life patterns in even a few lives.
FACT: Project
Lullaby has a community based board of advisors. They are working to
see
that the program remains a service to the community. If you are
interested
in
learning more about or serving as a member of this board, please contact
Rev.
Stephen directly.
FACT: We are
currently working on a "DAY OF SURVIVAL AND CELEBRATION" to be
held
here in Orlando in The Spring of 2005. The day will consist of workshops
and
informational seminars for men and women seeking survival, for
professionals
in service to the survivor and to those who just want to see
childhood
abuse be a thing of the past.
Watch
our web sight for more information.
FACT:
Childhood abuse is never an easy thing to talk about. If you or someone
you
know
has an issue of childhood abuse or you feel that the dysfunctional
behaviors
one exhibits maybe the result of childhood abuse pass on this
information
and let Project Lullaby offer a survival plan.
